Teamsters working at UPS Freight faced some uncertainty when it was announced that Canadian company TFI had acquired UPS Freight earlier this year. When UPS Freight was acquired, the operating ratio was at 99%. But at the end of this quarter, Cowen analyst reported TForce was performing “well ahead of expectations,” with an operating ratio of 90%.

TForce Teamsters are looking toward the future with hope. “The VP came around to talk about the company going forward -- taking care of the customer and the employees, everybody working together. Hearing things like that makes you feel good going forward, prioritizing the employees and the customers,” said TForce Shop Steward Marshall James.

“UPS was a small fish in a big pond in freight. Now under TForce, we’re almost 40-44% of their total profit. As union members we can come to the table with more leverage to win a good contract.”

Charlotte TForce is currently hiring part-time dock workers and CDL drivers. Visit jobs-ups.com to find listings and apply for union positions.
